International News USD Fake notes
A man from Cote d'Ivoire is in police custody in Abu Dhabi after he allegedly persuaded a woman to try to exchange two counterfeit notes of one million dollars each at the central bank of the United Arab Emirates.
The suspect promised the woman to give him 30% of the money after exchanging the notes presumably for dollars or dirhams - the local currency - the police said. The suspect was identified in the press reports on Sunday only by the initials A.B.
The fake notes showed George Washington's portrait on the dollar notes and they were black and white on the front face.
The suspect claimed that the notes were real, said Col. Rashid Mohammed Bursheed, head of the organized crime unit, quoted by the national newspaper.
