Dismantled a group that falsified tickets in Madrid
MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Agents of the Civil Guard assigned to the Judicial Police Team of Collado Villalba and in the Research Area of the Galapagar Post have dismantled a group, made up of eight people, specialized in counterfeiting and distributing counterfeit currency in localities of the northwest of the Community of Madrid.
As reported by the Benemérita, the operation 'Castilla', which had its origin in January 2010, was aimed at arresting people who distributed counterfeit currency in small shops and shopping centers in Galapagar and other nearby towns.
In all the cases, the delinquents bought a good of little value, paying with tickets of a face value very superior to the cost that they wanted to realize, to also obtain an economic benefit of their swindle.
The data provided by the victims who reported to the Civil Guard were sufficient for the identification of one of the criminals, from which the investigation of the operation began.
In the course of the 12 months that the operation lasted, the Civil Guard agents identified the rest of those involved in the crimes, in addition to locating the floors from which the tickets were falsified.
The investigations ended when the plot was unraveled that the now detained had concocted: while two of them only engaged in the manufacture of counterfeit notes, the other six were responsible for distributing and making purchases after acquiring them to counterfeiters.
With the pertinent judicial authorization, the agents of the Civil Guard registered the six houses, located in Galapagar, Colmenarejo, Becerril of the Mountain range and Torrejón de Ardoz, in which numerous tests were found that united definitively to the investigated ones with the committed crimes.
Thanks to the operation, the Civil Guard has been able to seize a gun with the numbering erased and numerous cartridges of different calibers; 35,000 fake euros in bills of 200, 50, 20, 10 and 5 euros; and the computer equipment necessary to carry out the forgeries.
They were also able to seize several fraudulent identity documents, so it is suspected that in addition to money they could have falsified this type of documentation.
The eight detainees, three of them Spaniards, four Moroccans and one Guinean, between 22 and 48 years old, have entered the Madrid V Penitentiary Center, in Soto del Real, by order of the Judicial Authority.
