Spain is one of the states with the highest number of counterfeit banknotes. Many counterfeit Euros come from Bulgaria, Romania, Kosovo, Colombia and the United Kingdom.
The settlement of these bands is not accidental.
The legislation of each country punishes this type of crime differently.
In Spain and the United Kingdom, the sentence can reach 12 years of imprisonment, while in France it can reach 30 years and in Ireland to life imprisonment.
The gangs use "pins" or people who are responsible for putting the fake bills in circulation.
The procedure consists of buying items of low value with large bills. They try to buy in crowded establishments so that the clerk or cashier can not pay too much attention to the ticket.
If they observe that the tickets go through a good detector, they change places.
Traders tend to control or not accept large bills and that is why counterfeiters are inclined to those of € 50.
The counterfeiter usually sells each € 50 ticket for € 10. The buyer in turn, usually resell it until you reach a third party that is normally the passer.
