To detect counterfeits of new euro banknotes, you need to have banknote detectors that are prepared to read and authenticate the new series of euro banknotes.
We currently have three new denominations of euro notes in the market, the 5 euros, 10 euros and 20 euros, the latter issued on November 25. These new notes will coexist with the old ones, therefore, we have 8 denominations of old and 3 new notes, in total 11 different euro notes that authenticate at the time of charging a customer or note counting .
In Countermatic we have the range of New Chicago banknote detectors, which currently have the updated software to read the new euro banknotes as well as detect possible falsifications.
In addition, the software of the New Chicago detectors read and detect the old euro notes. Currently the software is ready to read 11 different tickets.
Given the future issuance of new euro notes, 50 euros, 100 euros, 200 euros and 500 euros that will be issued in the coming years, Countermatic will have the new software months before the issuance of the new ticket, making it easier for our customers to update the software sufficiently in advance to detect any fake banknotes on the same day of the issuance of a new ticket.
The New Chicago banknote detectors read and detect the 11 different banknotes in the four positions, adding speed and security. They also have the main board with enough memory to house future euro bills.
