Billetes sospechosos o deteriorados
The national central banks of the eurozone will exchange damaged or mutilated bills in the following cases:
when more than 50% of the note is presented; and
When 50% of the ticket is presented or a lower percentage, if the applicant can prove that the missing parties have been destroyed.
To redeem a mutilated or damaged note, the applicant must provide:
an identifying document in cases of doubt about its legitimate ownership of the notes or the authenticity of the same;
a written explanation of the causes of the deterioration and the whereabouts of missing parts of the note; and
A written explanation of the type of stain, contamination or impregnation when ink, stained, contaminated or impregnated bills are presented.
The transport companies of cash or the credit entities must also contribute:
A written statement about the cause and type of neutralization when stained notes (with a red dye, for example) are presented as a consequence of the activation of anti-theft devices.
