100 Euros Fake notes detected in Azuqueca
Agents of the National Police have carried out the largest international intervention of counterfeit bills of 100 euros from Bulgaria made to date. In the operation, a total of 580 units were apprehended that were to be distributed in our country.
In addition, four people have been arrested in Azuqueca de Henares at the time of delivery of counterfeits.
They used truck drivers to transfer tickets to Spain
The investigation began in November 2007 when the existence of counterfeit euro banknotes was detected in our country.
After several months of investigation, the agents found out that the members of the organization acquired the counterfeits in Bulgaria and that, through carriers, they introduced them in Spain taking advantage of the trips regularly carried by Bulgarian truckers to our country.
Once here, the delivery was made at agreed points and very quickly. Finally one of these shipments could be intercepted by the researchers, managing to stop the two carriers and the receivers of the false currency.
The members of the group had attributed different functions within the structure of the group. Some were responsible for making direct contacts with the producers, others transported the tickets and finally the rest was responsible for distributing the money to the "pins".
The operation was developed by the Investigation Brigade of the Bank of Spain, of the General Police Station of Judicial Police, in collaboration with the Provincial Police Brigade of the Judicial Police of Madrid.
